Bangalore International Airport Area Planning Authority

Established in 1961 under the Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act, the Bangalore International Airport Area Planning Authority (BIAAPA) is a government body overseeing the development of the region surrounding Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, India. Its mandate includes managing land use, transportation, infrastructure, and environmental concerns to ensure sustainable growth while safeguarding the interests of residents and businesses.
Originally BIAAPA covered 792 sq km, BIAAPA's jurisdiction was adjusted in 1996 to 451 sq km and 228 villages in anticipation of the international airport in Devanahalli.
BIAAPA-approved plots and building construction certificates are sanctioned exclusively by Gram Panchayat.
